"What are you looking at Teddy?" His friend Adam asked, nudging him.
Teddy smirked. “Victoire Weasley.”
"Dude, she’s waaaay out of your league." Adam said bluntly, "No one cares that your Ravenclaw Quidditch captain. She only dates smart guys."
Turning, Teddy eyed Adam and said, “Are you saying, I’m not a smart guy?”
"I’m just saying." He shrugged with a laugh.
"Well, I’m going for it anyway…"
Teddy pushed up from the Ravenclaw table and walked over to where she saw at the Hufflepuff table. Her bright blonde hair was down, and she was snacking on a strawberry as she read her History textbook. Victoire had only two or so friends, but they were both thankfully not sitting near her when he approached. Teddy had no problem with her friends on a normal basis, he was actually partnered with Kelsey for his Potions project and got on with her swimmingly, but he didn’t want her or Renee around for this. If Victoire didn’t want to go out with him or even talk to him, he didn’t want two girls staring at him while it happened.
Sucking in his breath, Teddy sat down next to her and with hunched shoulders, he said, “Hi.”
Victoire looked up to see who was speaking, and it took a second of recognition. “Teddy.”
"I was wondering if I could …Are you busy this weekend?"
"Yes, I am busy."
Teddy’s face fell. “Oh…What about next weekend?”
He sighed, and pulled his hands together. “Look, the ball is next month. If you don’t have a date, would you like to go with me?”
She smiled, and gave a small chuckle. “You don’t give up, do you?”
"If you don’t want to go or don’t want to go with me just say so." He said with a smile, "I will slink back over to the Ravenclaw table and never bother you till I need to borrow your notes in History."
Victoire eyed him and said. “Why do you look so happy at the idea of me turning you down?”
"I’m not." He laughed, shrugging his shoulders, "I wanna spend time with you, but I’m realistic. You’re the prettiest girl in our year, you and I have talked a handful of times, and most of it you’re head was in a book. I’m just a guy, and you turn down a lot of my folk. So my odds aren’t good, but I figure what the hell…it’s Wednesday…why not give it a try?"
"Your rationale for asking me out is…it’s a Wednesday?"
"It’s the middle of the week. I have papers to do, exams to study for, practice to study for…I have nothing to look forward to at all." Teddy said frankly, "But it’s a Wednesday, perfect day to take a chance and see what happens."
Victoire’s pale blue eyes scanned his face, and she said in a low voice. “What do you have in mind?”
"I don’t know," He smirked mischievously, "I’m making it up as I go along."
Victoire pursed her lips and said, “Fine.”
"What are you doing right now?"
A huge grin spread across his face, “I dunno…want to talk a walk?”
"Sure." She put her book in her bag and followed him out of the hall ignoring all the stares that followed them as they went.
